The use of assessment instruments can be a very complex and intimidating subject for coaches. The session will address the ICF competencies of Creating Awareness and Asking Powerful Questions. This interactive session will cut through the mystique of assessments. Chuck will share practical advice based on 25 years of experience with assessments. As a result of this interactive session participants will develop a comfort level selecting and using assessments to support their coaching process. In the session we will discuss:
- Different types of assessments
- How and when assessments are used in the coaching process
- How assessments can be used to shape powerful questions
- Simple, practical considerations in selecting an assessment tool
- Exercise/discussion applying 2-3 assessment tools in life and business coaching situations.
Chuck Presbury has over 25 years of experience as an HRD. He has led a range of HRD functions including executive development, executive coaching, succession planning and human resource general management at companies ranging from S&P, Business Week, JD Power, Aviation Week, National Broadcasting Company, Pitney Bowes, McGraw-Hill Education, McGraw-Hill Professional Publishing, Preferred Health Care, and SCM Corporation. Chuck is certified in over 15 instruments which he has used throughout his corporate and independent consulting career.
Chuck received his BA from Holy Cross College and MSW from Columbia University. He is a member of numerous professional groups including SHRM, ATD, HRPS and ICF. Chuck teaches leadership and management in the MBA program at the Welch School of Business at Sacred Heart University in Connecticut. He also provides pro bono coaching and leadership mentoring to small, emerging companies via the Leadership Institute of the Norwalk Chamber of Commerce and Fairfield County SCORE.
