Many individuals on the autism spectrum - including those with college degrees - struggle to choose the right job or career and get hired. Coaching has much to offer if you understand how to adapt traditional models to the needs of this neurodivergent population.

During this informative presentation, Barbara will share insights developed during her work with more than 1,000 clients. The emphasis in assisting individuals seeking competitive (not sheltered or heavily supported) employment. 

Attendees will gain an understanding on how challenges affect individuals in the workplace, learn the strengths associated with autistic individuals and receive tips for working with these clients.

This presentation offers practical strategies for guiding these clients to manageable employment.

You will learn:

How autism impacts adults in the workplace
Communication, executive function and sensory processing challenges you need to be aware of
Strengths associated with those on the spectrum
Tips for assessing coaching readiness, building rapport and creating realistic action plans

 

Bio

Barbara Bissonnette is the Principal of Forward Motion Coaching (www.ForwardMotion.info). Since 2006 she has specialized in career development coaching for individuals with Asperger's Syndrome and similar autism spectrum profiles. In addition to working with private clients, she offers professional development training, including the Asperger's/Autism Employment Coach Certification.

Barbara earned a graduate certificate in executive coaching from William James College, and a coach certification from the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (IPEC).
