Did you know that December 3rd was the annual International Day of Persons with Disabilities -- to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities?

Surprised by these statistics?

• 49 Million people in the U.S. have at least one form of a disability
• More than 1 Billion people in the world have a disability
•  1 out of every 7 people is affected by disability

This means we live in a country, and a world, where people with disabilities are common.  Yet, inclusion, accessibility and belonging are not the norms.   “People with disabilities” include those with impairments that are...

• Physical
• Mental
• Developmental
• Intellectual or cognitive, or
• Sensory

… and interfere with the person’s ability to perform certain tasks and actions. 

Whether you’ve had the privilege to know someone with a disability or you just want to learn more, or if you are familiar with one type of disability but not others, you may be curious about simple ways YOU can be more inclusive in both your thinking and actions.
