ICW continues with this community give-back event led by chapter member and certified Advanced Master Gardener Jean Stetz-Puchalski, PCC, along with certified Advanced Master Gardeners Andrea Sarnik, Barbara Stauder, and Sandi Wilson, Fairfield County UConn Master Gardener Program Coordinator.

Join us for a social and educational morning of:

Learning, planting and community service in this organic garden using sustainable practices
Conversation and connection with fellow coaches
• Garden Bench: An opportunity to explore, grow, and discover the possibilities for individual and professional development

Each year, the garden harvests benefit local community pantries. In 2023, over 1,098 pounds of produce was grown and donated to help address food insecurity in the region. Recently, the Master Gardeners have collaborated with Extension’s Food and Nutrition EFNEP and SNAP-Ed programs to provide clients with nutritious recipes in both Spanish and English to accompany their produce.

Participating coaches will work alongside Master Gardener volunteers in a variety of ways to plant in the garden, including vertical structures, containers, troughs, raised beds. No gardening experience necessary. Bring a folding Chair and a pair of work/garden gloves.

About the Garden
Located at the Fairfield County Extension Center in Bethel Connecticut, the 3,000 square foot garden was started in 2013 by a group of Master Gardener interns excited to assist food insecurity, and at the same time educate the public about Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and best organic garden practices.
