Board Member Spotlight - Dina Markind

Published on 3/11/2019

This week's featured coach is Dina Markind, who serves as Secretary on the chapter board.

Who am I?
Dina MarkindHi! I’m Dina Markind, PCC and a nurturer at heart. I came to coaching after a career as a nurse. Coaching has been a homecoming for me, allowing me to work collaboratively with clients on matters that are important to them. I love getting to know people and being part of their personal growth and the achievements that can come through coaching. I am a past president of ICF-CT.

What do I do?
I focus on life coaching, especially in the area of burnout prevention and recovery for professionals in a variety of fields, with a special interest in healthcare. In addition to coaching I present my signature program, Vital Signs of Well-Being® and other positive psychology topics at conferences and organizations. Vital Signs of Well-Being  is available as a short ebook through Kindle.

I love learning and have a number of certifications. In December 2018, I became a Certified Mentor Coach. I enjoy nurturing my peers and working with them toward mastery.

What am I passionate about?
I believe that everyone has the potential to live a fulfilling and meaningful life. I try to help others achieve this through coaching as well as through other means. I am simply passionate about the power of coaching!

Relationships are key to my happiness. I have been lucky enough to have been surrounded by a lot of love most of my life and I enjoy sharing my love with others, including my clients with whom I forge deep connections.

And, speaking of passions …

I love to travel! In January, my husband and I visited Kenya. In an effort to contribute while visiting, I presented “How Can 60-seconds Make You a Better Coach?” at the ICF-Kenya chapter meeting.

My presentation to ICF-Kenya came about through my involvement with ICF. When I was president of ICF-CT, I met the president of ICF-Kenya at the Global Leadership Forum and mentioned that I might visit the country in the future. She said something like "maybe you’ll make a presentation to our chapter when you do!" I kept this invitation in mind as I planned my trip. Presenting was a great opportunity to meet people, and provided me with additional perspective and adventure.

If you have a valuable message to offer other coaches, and you speak the language of the country you’re visiting – Kenyans speak English! – you can reach out to a sister chapter and perhaps make a presentation there. Contact me if you’d like to know more about how to make this happen, or simply about my experience in Kenya!
