This week's featured coach is Monica Leggett, PCC who is the incoming President of our ICF-CT chapter.
Who am I?
Hello! My name is Monica Leggett and I’m excited to be heading into my year as President of ICF Connecticut. At my core I am a relationship builder, a life-long learner and teacher, and a BIG family person. As the seventh of 10 kids, my life has always revolved around people; family, friends, and community. I’ve been married to Steve for almost 39 years, we have 3 great children, and 8 grandchildren (from 3 to 11 years old). If you can’t find me in or around Shelton, you’ll find me with the grandkids in MA or VA or traveling somewhere fun.
What do I do?
I’m on my 3rd act as a professional. I had an educational toy business while my kids were young, growing a multi-level marketing team of over 40 people and helping thousands of parents and teachers (and their children!) After I moved to CT, I went back to school and become a Respiratory Therapist at Bridgeport Hospital for over 10 years. In 2006 I was introduced to coaching and over the next two years completed the Coaches Training Institute with ICF certification, and studied Organization and Relationship Systems coach training. In 2008 I went from helping ICU patients get off a ventilator to helping my coaching clients overcome saboteurs and create life-long habits to achieve their goals.
I’ve had a wide variety of clients over the past 11 years, from entrepreneurs and managers, to couples getting married or retiring. I teach communication and relationship building to entrepreneurs and in the corporate setting.
What my clients all have in common is a pursuit of personal development and becoming their best self – with awareness, big picture vision, strong relationships and a goal-oriented system to stay focused.
What am I passionate about?
Grandbabies, travel, puzzles, and coaching! I love working with individuals, couples and teams, helping them achieve goals, manage stress, and design better relationships. I believe that it takes mindful and proactive inner work in order to see the outer results you want in your life. Change begins with Awareness and ends with Intentional Action.
I love creating opportunities that facilitate growth in a group setting: workshops, adult education classes, professional training sessions, and speaking for associations or other groups. I have an Amazon eBook entitled, Break Free from the STOP Syndrome overcoming Stress, Tension, Overwhelm, and Procrastination, which will be launched as an online course later this year.
