Board Member Spotlight - Naomi Rafalowicz

Who am I?
Hi everyone! I’m so happy to meet all of you. I am Naomi Rafalowicz. I live in West Hartford and I am actually a Connecticut native! I have been in the Hartford area most of my life, but when I can, I love to spend time on Cape Cod. These days, you can find me walking my sweet dog Mona on a quest to explore new neighborhoods and towns.
What do I do?
Like some of you, my career has entered a second exciting phase as an ICF Credentialed Transition Life Coach. I am passionate about working with socially conscious and spiritual Women Educators in their pre- or post-retirement years. I help women in education transition into retirement and manage the sense of loss retirement brings. I provide support they need as they enter their creative next phase and reestablish their purpose in order to pursue the next chapter of their lives. Our coaching begins with a unique Foundation Session to illuminate purpose, core strengths and core values.
What am I passionate about?
Prior to coaching, I enjoyed an incredible 35-year teaching career as a Special Education Teacher in the CT Public School system. During those 35 years, I always had a sense that the work that I did with the staff and families of my students was very special and different from my typical teaching duties. Today I know that that work was coaching! I know what it feels like to move from a 35-year career into retirement, wondering how I will make a difference in the world going forward. I am passionate about helping others create their new beginnings. I am not here to tell you what to do, but I will listen, ask powerful questions, and help you use your wisdom and strengths so you can move forward with your goals. I know you are your own best source of wisdom.
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, what are you most thankful for, particularly this year?
I am most thankful for my circle of friends and family who support me every day. I am thankful for the connections that I have been able to maintain, and the new connections that I have made over these past eight months. And I have to say a big thank you to my dog, Mona, who keeps me calm, grounded and healthy during these stressful times.
Thank you, Naomi for the work you do as our Marketing Chair!.
