Board Member Spotlight - Diana Ackerley

Published on 3/31/2019

This week's featured coach is Diana G. Ackerley,  PH.D., MCC who is the Immediate Past President of the chapter board.

Who am I?
Hello, my name is Diana Ackerley. I moved with my husband to Connecticut 4 years ago to be closer to family. I grew up in Brooklyn, went away for graduate school and ended up in the Midwest for many years. I have always seen myself as an East Coaster at heart. I feel like I’m home now. Our 2 grown daughters live in Norwalk as well, which is a great joy to us.

What do I do?
I have always been deeply interested in people and a good listener. I started my career as a Ph.D. level Psychologist. A Dale Carnegie Course in Human Relations Training changed the trajectory of my practice as I admired the people who took that program – high achievers motivated towards accelerating their careers. I diligently studied what made people more successful. Since 1988, in my own private practice I have worked with individuals who wanted to be more successful – they included physicians, lawyers, small business owners, entrepreneurs, and people across many industries.

I came to understand that I was coaching. Once I discovered that, I signed up the next month for my first coaching program and have devoted myself to an all-coaching practice.

I am a Licensed Psychologist who specializes in Executive Coaching and am a Master Certified Coach (MCC) through the International Coach Federation, which is the highest designation in Coaching. This means I am an experienced coach with more than 2600 coaching hours. I am also a Certified C-IQ Coach in Conversational Intelligence®, A Results Certified Brain Based Coach through the NeuroLeadership Institute, and Certified in the eqi 2.0, Emotional Intelligence Assessments. Additionally I am an ICF Certified Mentor Coach, which means that I coach the coaches. I am the immediate Past President of the Connecticut Chapter of ICF.

What am I passionate about?
Let me tell you more about myself. My Gallup Strengths are that I am Strategic (see patterns to create a strategy), an Achiever (do more and achieve more}, a Learner (energized by the journey to competence}, Responsibility {you can count on me}, Woo (connect and network with people), and a Maximizer (transform people from strong to superb). I use my strengths to partner with clients to Focus their Aspirations. Elevate their Conversations and Accelerate their Success. I am passionate about people and love coaching and the profession of coaching. It is my greatest pleasure to be the wind beneath my client’s wings. No issue is too big or too small.
